Johnson City Man Killed in Binghamton Crash
Police say a car went off a town of Binghamton roadway and slammed into a tree, resulting in the death of a passenger.
Authorities say 29-year-old Troy McIver of Johnson City was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Hawleyton Road.
Police and emergency responders were called to the scene at 3:10 a.m. August 27.
Investigators say emergency crews extricated McIver and the driver from the wrecked 2004 Lexus.
Police say the driver, 34-year-old Jemark Ballenger of Endicott, sustained broken bones. He was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.
Investigators say alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash. They say charges are pending.
Hawleyton Road was closed for several hours for the crash investigation.
