The parking ramp at Wilson Hospital near the emergency room entrance has collapsed into the bottom floor.  The two story parking structure is on Baldwin Street directly across from the facility's emergency room.

A crane has arrived on scene to aid in the removal of vehicles and debris.  There are still several vehicles on the top floor of the two story structure, some hanging perilously over the edge of the collapsed area.  Officials say it will take several hours to remove those vehicles

No word yet on whether anyone has been trapped in the collapse although Johnson City police and Mayor Greg Deemie do not believe that anyone was in the structure when it collapsed.

Mayor Deemie has also declared a State of Emergency which states that access by unauthorized personnel is prohibited on:

  • Main Street between Baldwin Street and Arch Street
  • Baldwin Street between Main Street and Corliss Avenue
  • Corliss Avenue between Baldwin Street and Arch Street
  • Arch Street between Main Street and Corliss Avenue
