Police in Johnson City have arrested a village man who allegedly threatened to injure a woman with a machete during an argument.

Authorities say 45-year-old Adam Rivera was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He also was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

According to a news release from Johnson City police, officers were called to investigate a domestic incident involving Rivera and a woman.

During a verbal dispute, Rivera is said to have grabbed a machete and threatened to cut the woman with it.

Police say the machete was recovered.

Rivera was arraigned in Johnson City village court and sent to Broome County Jail.

The police department news release did not indicate when or where the incident occurred.
