Authorities say a large police presence in the area of Frederick Street in the City of Binghamton at around 5:30 p.m. June 14 was the result of a motorist trying to flee police following a traffic stop.

Emergency Services Dispatchers say the responding officer called for backup after the driver became uncooperative and tried to run.

As is normal procedure when it is unknown if a suspect is armed, the backup patrols did draw weapons.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries.

No information regarding the nature of the traffic stop or charges against the driver is available.
