People all around the nation participate in the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women day February 6.  The movement invites men and women to wear something red as a show of support to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease which is the number one killer of women in the United States.

One in three women across the country dies from heart disease or stroke.  The mission of Go Red For Women day is to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

In the Greater Binghamton area there are a number of businesses take part in the event.  Security Mutual Life in downtown Binghamton is illuminating their building in red to bring attention to Go Red For Women Day.

The United Health Services Vestal location at 4417 Vestal Parkway East scheduled a Go Red ribbing cutting.  A program was set to be presented featuring lifesaving information on heart health including how women can recognize heart disease symptoms.
