The owner of a Vestal jewelry store is warning other business owners to be very careful who they trust when it comes to employees.

The warning comes after the former manager of Comfort Gifts and Engraving was arrested and accused of stealing merchandise and money from the business.

48 year old Lynn Orlando of Endicott was charged last week with felony counts of grand larceny, forgery, falsifying business records, identity theft and criminal possession of stolen property.

She’s accused of stealing items, using business credit and taking money from the store’s safe, amounting to over 25-thousand dollars for her personal use.

Prosecutors say the thefts allegedly happened between February 2012 and January of this year.

The owner of the business told reporters that he had regarded Orlando as a member of the family.
