The former Days Inn hotel on Binghamton's West Side could be shut down under the city's Lockdown Law because of a series of drug-related incidents.

Mayor Richard David said the city has notified the operators of the current business at 65 Front Street that action will be taken if changes aren't made.

The establishment now is know as Travel Hotel and Suites. Manager Angela Dickel on Thursday afternoon said the owners had no immediate comment on the lockdown threat.

The mayor said there had been seven drug-related incidents at the location in a five-week period. He said the business has caused "repeated quality of life issues" for nearby residents and businesses.

Under Binghamton's Lockdown Law, a property owner is given an opportunity to develop a corrective action plan. If problems persist, the city could go to court to seek a closure of the premises.
