Fatal Fire Cause Listed

Broome County Fire Investigators say a blaze that claimed a man’s life on Kemak Road in the Town of Triangle April 8 was cooking related.

59 year old Mark Maslar was one of two people pulled from the burning home shortly before 5:30 p.m. but he died at a hospital in Syracuse.  The other person rescued from the house was not hurt.

Investigators say Maslar died as a result of severe burns over much of his body and inhaling toxic gases resulting from the fire.
