An Endicott man will be on probation for four years, pay a five thousand dollar fine and perform 180 hours of community service after being convicted in Federal Court for reporting his former boss at BAE systems was an international spy.

39 year old Ryan Letcher was convicted in August of making a false statement.

Federal prosecutors say Letcher admitted he sent an anonymous letter to the Defense Security Service in March 2012 accusing his former supervisor as being a foreign intelligence officer out of distain for his boss.

The electrical engineer had said his supervisor had been taking credit for his work.

The FBI did investigate the supervisor and determined he was not a spy.

In addition to the probation, fine and community service, Letcher has been ordered to have no contact with his former supervisor.
