Authorities say 23-year-old Jorey Wolfe of North Liberty Avenue was seriously injured when a .25-caliber handgun discharged.

Village detectives say Wolfe apparently shot himself shortly after midnight on January 30 as he was trying to put the gun in a coat. They say he had been showing the weapon to friends inside an apartment in the 100 block of East Franklin Street.

Wolfe was hospitalized for several weeks after he was wounded. He was arrested on March 2.

Wolfe was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He was arraigned in Endicott village court and released on his own recognizance.

A police investigator says Wolfe claimed he found the gun.
