Investigators say an electrical arc between the ceiling of the first floor living room and the second floor attic sparked the two alarm fire at a home on Route 11 in Whitney Point at 4:44 a.m. November 29 that sent the nine members of the family to hospitals.

Officials say the fire ripped through the attic before the smoke detectors in the home went off.

Two of the six children hurt in the fire and their father remain hospitalized. The one month old baby, 10 year old child and the father suffered smoke inhalation or burns.

The Whitney Point/ Lisle community has been stepping forward to donate clothing and household items to the Chandler and Haynes family, that lost everything in the fire.
