More details have been released pertaining to a motor vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 2:50 AM on Thursday morning (7/20/17) on Bennie Road in the Town of Cortlandville.  Two people were killed and seven others were injured in the crash.

According to information supplied by the Cortland County Sheriff's Office eight students from Tompkins-Cortland Community College (TC3) were picked up by "Rockin Robbin Taxi" near Main Street in the City of Cortland and were being transported back to their rooms on campus when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.  The vehicle then hit a utility pole and trees.

The driver was one of those killed in the crash and was identified as Robbin Brill, age 58 of Cortland.  The other fatality was 20 year-old Roberto Eduardo Mata.

Mata and the seven survivors are residents of the Dominican Republic and are taking summer classes at TC3 in Dryden this summer.

Crash survivors were taken to either Upstate Hospital or Cortland Regional Medical Center.  Ages range from 19 to 23.  Survivors' medical conditions were not released.
