In a race that is still too close to call, Republican Steve Cornwell is claiming victory over incumbent District Attorney Gerald Mollen by less than 500 votes and gave his victory speech.  With all 141 precincts reporting Cornwell had 19612 votes to 19025 for Mollen.  There are over 1,800 ballots still to be counted as well.

The last time Mollen was opposed in a race was in 2007 when he defeated Michael Korchak.  Much of the campaigning centered on the drug situation and in particular the heroin situation in Broome County.  Cornwell has vowed to get tougher in prosecuting drug offenders and in giving his victory speech warned drug dealers to get out of town before he is sworn in on January 1, 2016.
