Heavy rain and gusty winds caused some problems for people around the Twin Tiers Monday.

Several crashes around Broome and Tioga counties occurred during the late morning and early afternoon that were related to the weather.

Some intersections and underpasses were impassible for a time because of deluge.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the region. A tornado watch and some severe thunderstorms warnings also were posted.

The changing weather conditions prompted the cancellation of some school activities in the area.

These districts announced there would be no after school activities on Monday: Chenango Valley, Susquehanna Valley, Windsor, Bainbridge-Guilford, Greene, Oxford, Walton, Wayne Highland and Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.
