Cold Causes Problems in the Twin Tiers

Cold temperatures are already causing problems in the Twin Tiers.

Some burst pipes have been reported, flooding some basements.

A water main break snarled traffic on Hooper Road in Endwell  between Watson Boulevard and Country Club Road was being worked on around 5 p.m. January 5. It’s not clear if that break was weather related.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory from 5 p.m. January 7 to 10 a.m. January 8 with wind chills of minus 15 possible.

Health officials say with wind chills possibly dipping into the minus teens, it’s important to dress in layers and make sure all flesh is covered, especially ears, noses and fingers that are susceptible to frost bite the quickest.
