The Chenango Valley School District is asking voters in December to approve a $12.4 million upgrade to district buildings and athletic fields.

District officials say they plan to use state aid, bonding and capital reserve funds to pay the project costs. They said most homeowners would not see an increase in their tax levy.

The proposal calls for security upgrades at the Port Dickinson and Chenango Bridge Elementary Schools, fire alarm replacement and new playground equipment at the elementary schools and several athletic room improvements at the high school to the locker room, gym bleachers, diving pool and baseball field.

The athletic field is in line for installation of stadium turf on a multi-purpose field on the Army Depot property, improvements to the softball field and track resurfacing.

October 7 was the first public meeting, including a tour of the athletic facilities.  The next meeting is November 12 at 7 p.m.

The vote is December 9.
