A Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputy, who died in the line of duty in 1948 finally has a place on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C.

Deputy Hiram Moore’s name was formally added during the 27th annual Candlelight Vigil May 13 after information obtained from numerous sources, including descendants and historical records, was submitted to the Officers’ Memorial Fund Names Committee last fall.

Moorewas killed when he was struck by a vehicle while conducting a routine traffic stop on Route 7 in the Town of Bainbridge April 9, 1948.
