The same day Cornwell announced he would not seek re-election, attorney Paul Battsti said he wanted to run.

Now, fellow Republican, Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Korchak announced he is seeking the job.

Cornwell said he would not run for another term as District Attorney knowing that he would not be planning to fill out the entire term.  The D.A. has not said what his future plans are at this time.

In Chenango County, Acting District Attorney Michael Ferrarese says he plans to run for a full term.  He is currently serving as the county’s District Attorney after former D.A. Joseph McBride was sworn in as a New York State Supreme Court Justice.
