Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Broome County District Attorney Stephen Cornwell says his office is going to move aggressively on crimes involving drugs and violence.

Cornwell started work just over two weeks ago after he defeated Gerald Mollen in the November election. Mollen had been district attorney for nearly three decades.

Cornwell said he's hiring another investigator for the office. The new investigator is to start work next month.

The county's new chief prosecutor said 12 of the 18 assistant district attorneys have remained with the office. Six new assistants began work this month.

Cornwell said he intends to move more quickly to prosecute drug, violent and sex crimes. He said he believes victims need justice and those who are accused are entitled to a speedy resolution of their case.
