Widespread flu activity continues in Broome County and across New York state.

Health officials are concerned about the significant number of influenza cases that have been confirmed in recent weeks.

Many Broome County residents have yet to be immunized against the flu. They'll have another chance to get a flu shot this week.

The county health department will hold a walk-in flu clinic at its offices at 225 Front Street in Binghamton on Wednesday.

No appointment is needed for the clinic, which is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The flu shot will cost $25. Some insurance plans may be billed for the immunization.

Federal health officials say everyone older than six months should receive a seasonal flu shot.

Widespread flu activity now is reported in 42 states.
