Aaron Price has been a vocal supporter of secession in recent months. He is hoping others who feel strongly about the future of the upstate region will join the effort to secede.

The pledge states upstate New York is broken "economically, politically, and spiritually." Those who sign it agree to work for secession until the region "is free of Downstate's oppression."

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Price said he and several other upstate residents plan to travel to Harrisburg on Thursday to meet with staffers of key Pennsylvania officials. He said they'll be discussing the New York secession movement.

Price said his group hopes to work with the Keystone state representatives "to develop a path for upstate to get out of New York state and join Pennsylvania."

Price said he believes the "secessionist movement is going in the right direction." He said the effort is designed to give upstate residents a reason for hope.

Price said: "It's for real."
