The Broome County Department of Public Transportation and the Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study are taking surveys of BC Transit riders from October 26 through November 8.

County officials say they are looking to make sure the most efficient service is being provided in the most cost-effective manner.

The survey will ask about who rides the bus, why, where they go, fare payment and what they think of the service.

Passengers will be given a questionnaire when they get on the bus. They can fill it out during the ride and hand it back to the survey person.

Students from the Binghamton University College of Community and Public Affairs will analyze the data.

The questionnaire is confidential with no names recorded and riders can opt not to fill out the survey.
