Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]A Broome County woman faces charges for allegedly failing to pay for utility services.

Authorities say 38-year-old Karen Szampaner of Binghamton is accused of opening an account with New York State Electric and Gas using someone else's information.

Investigators say Szampaner stole about $136 in services from NYSEG. She was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the June alleged theft.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Szampaner was charged with petit larceny and identity theft.

The woman was issued appearance tickets for Binghamton City Court.
