A crash in Hillcrest brought out New York State Electric and Gas crews, the Hillcrest Fire Department and Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies and shut down a portion of Chenango Street for a time.

Sheriff’s officials were called in the morning of January 26 with a report of a vehicle into a house.

Authorities say the car driven by 18 year old Anthony Monk of Binghamton hit a gas meter, causing a gas leak.

Monk told the Deputy he had lost control of the vehicle and the officer said he observed signs of intoxication.

Monk was also found to be in possession of an alcoholic beverage while being under the age of 21.

The teen is charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely, speeding and under-aged possession of alcohol.

He’s been ordered to appear in Town of Fenton Court at a later date.
