The microsurfacing work on Binghamton's Main Street is taking longer to complete than originally planned.

The project started September 21 and was expected to be finished within a few days.

Weather conditions slowed some of the work on the West Side project.

Drivers may continue to encounter lane restrictions along sections of Main Street.

Access to Main Street from some side streets also may be blocked at times.

The microsurfacing work is said to extend the life of basic pavement by applying a thin layer of asphalt to the road surface.

Crews from Vestal Asphalt have been doing the work on the Main Street project.
