Two men were reported hurt after a disturbance in which shots were fired on Binghamton's West Side.

Police say the incident happened around 9:10 Wednesday night near the intersection of Mather and North streets.

Witnesses told investigators some men were arguing and fighting when a car pulled up. Some gun shots were heard before the vehicle drove away. The car was described as a light-colored hatchback-type sedan.

Police say 30-year-old Anthony Carter of Binghamton walked into a hospital emergency room a short time later seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to a leg.

Detectives say 32-year-old James High of Binghamton showed up at another emergency room with an elbow injury. Police believe he was hurt during the altercation.
