A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Binghamton crime spree that included a church burglary and three business larcenies.

Authorities say Scott Adams of Binghamton was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday as he was leaving a downtown church carrying a laptop computer.

Investigators say Adams got into the United Presbyterian Church at 42 Chenango Street through a window.

Adams also is suspected of three separate larcenies at a pair of businesses during November.

Police say two of those incidents occurred at a Mirabito convenience store at 227 Court Street. The other larceny happened at a Dollar General store at 325 Clinton Street.

Adams has been charged with third-degree burglary and three counts of petit larceny. He was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.

The police investigation is continuing. People with information may contact the detective bureau at 607.772.7080.
