Binghamton Drivers Prepare For Lane Closures

Bob Joseph/WNBF News

The state Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to potential delays in connection with the Prospect Mountain project near the 17/81 split in Binghamton.

Traffic slowdowns should be expected on Route 17 and Interstate 81 in the work zone.

Alternating lane closures are planned on Chenango Street between Moffatt Avenue and Sturges Street while drainage work is being done this week.

Periodic, alternating lane closures will occur on Front Street between Prospect and Bevier streets. Crews will be working on construction for the new Route 17 bridges over the Chenango River.

Occasional alternating lane closures also are expected on Mygatt Street between Prospect and LaGrange streets. Superstructure work will be done for a Route 17 bridge over Mygatt Street.

Flag personnel will assist motorists in the work zones.
