New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office says while New York reached its highest employment level ever, the Southern Tier is among four upstate regions losing jobs.

In fact, DiNapoli’s office says the Southern Tier and Mohawk Valley saw the biggest drops in employment.

The Binghamton Job Market, that includes Tioga County, lost 8,500 jobs between June 2008 and this past June, most of them in manufacturing and financial services.

New York City posted the largest gains.

The report also says wages saw over a 25 percent increase between 2009 and 2014.
