Southern Tier motorists are starting to pay more when they fill up their vehicles.

The prolonged decline in gasoline prices stopped in recent days in the Binghamton area. Prices across the United States have started to creep up.

Drivers still are enjoying prices more than a dollar a gallon lower than they were a year ago.

Lines pop up at some stations when they lower prices by a few cents a gallon for a weekly gas sale.

The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report indicates the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the Binghamton area today is about $2.30. That's an increase of two cents from Tuesday's average price.

Wholesale gas prices are rising this week. Analysts say one of the factors is a strike by workers at several oil refineries.
