The Binghamton Mets created some fireworks of their own on Independence Day at NYSEG Stadium as they posted a 5-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs.  An announced crowd of 4,858 cheered on the B-Mets to the holiday night victory celebration.

The fireworks came from Gavin Cecchini and Aderlin Rodriguez.  Cecchini had the big blow of the game with a second inning grand slam home run.  Rodriguez added a solo shot for the icing on the cake.  It was the sixth home run of the season for Cecchini who was just named to the Eastern League All-Star Game roster.  The homer came in the second inning and put the B-Mets up 4-1.  Rodriguez ripped his ninth home run of the season for Binghamton.

Michael Fulmer got the start and the win for Binghamton.  He went six innings, struck out eight batters and gave up both Portland runs.  Fulmer's record moves to 3-1.

With the win the B-Mets record is now 41-39 while the Sea Dogs fall to 29-53.  The B-Mets are 10-4 against Portland this season.

The two teams meet again Sunday evening at 6:35 (air at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Binghamton is home for six consecutive games.
