The Binghamton Mets are back in familiar territory.  The defending Eastern League Champions have moved into first place in the Eastern Division after a 9-5 pounding of the New Britain Rock Cats in Connecticut July 22.  It was the sixth consecutive win for Binghamton and victory number 11 in the last 12 games.

Binghamton entered the July 23 game in Trenton one-half game ahead of Reading and a game and one-half up on the Trenton Thunder.  The Thunder host the B-Mets for four consecutive games in Trenton in what is the biggest series of the year so far for both teams.

Trenton, however, proved not to be the most gracious host, snapping the B-Mets winning streak with a 7-3 win over the Mets.

John Gant with a 4-4 record opposed Joel De La Cruz at 1-2 on the mound. Gant earned a win last week against the Thunder at NYSEG Stadium.  The B-Mets have been exhibiting some big-time power at the plate ripping 16 home runs in the last 17 games.
