Cortland County Sheriff’s officials are investigating an armed robbery at the Tops Supermarket on State Route 281 in Cortlandville December 31. 

Officials say a white man, dressed in dark clothing with a red bandana over his face entered the store at 3:20 a.m. and threatened the clerk with a knife. 

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies say the man left the through main entrance of the grocery store and ran to a vehicle that had been parked nearby.

The suspect is described of being of slender build, standing about five feet, ten inches tall and appeared to be in his 20s.  At the time, he was wearing a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt that appeared by be snug, dirty, bagging jeans or sweatpants and greyish-colored Converse sneakers.
