Investigators say alcohol has been ruled to be a contributing factor in a deadly crash in the town of Union.

Authorities say 34-year-old Gerald Winston of Newark Valley was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Winston was driving a pickup truck on Route 38B in Union Center around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the truck crossed to the other side of the roadway and struck a driveway culvert. The vehicle became airborne and overturned.

Authorities say Winston, who was not restrained, was partially ejected from the truck.

Investigators say an autopsy revealed Winston's blood alcohol content was .16 percent, twice the legal limit.
