Tarik Abdelazim is working again for the administration of Binghamton mayor Matthew Ryan.

Abdelazim has returned to his former job of director of planning, housing and community development. He left the post spring as he prepared to run for Broome County executive.

Abdelazim resigned from the city post because it's partially-funded by federal money. He was not permitted to seek office while working in that job.

Abdelazim, a Democrat, was unsuccessful in his bid to unseat Republican county executive Debra Preston in the November 6 election.

Abdelazim's name has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Binghamton mayor next year. He's indicated he's not interested in seeking that post.
