A Queens Man Admits Making a False Report to Broome 911
A Queens man is accused of falsely reporting an emergency to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say 32 year old James Harris called 911 at 9:53 a.m. May 8 and said there were two black men and a black woman in the rear parking lot of a Town of Chenango hotel and it looked like they were getting ready to force their way into a room.
Deputies and New York State Police set up a perimeter around the hotel but found there were no suspects on site.
Deputies found Harris, who had a substantial amount of cash in his possession. He admitted he made the false report since he feared his ex-girlfriend was going to send people to the hotel to rob him.
Harris was charged with falsely reporting an incident and sent to the Broome County Jail.
