122 Year Old Johnson City Cemetery Gets New Owners

The group that owns the Spring Forest Cemetery in Binghamton is now managing the Floral Park Cemetery.Many portions of the sprawling Floral Park have fallen into disrepair with toppled headstones and areas where part of the stone retaining wall have collapsed.  Several years ago, a Johnson City Boy Scout was seriously injured when a tombstone tipped over on top of him as he was placing American flags on the graves of veterans.

The new president of Floral Park, Peter Pappas, has applied for funding from the New York State Division of Cemeteries and says he plans to look for other revenue sources, including outright donations, to help maintain the 122 year old burial ground, its chapel and close to two dozen mausoleums.
