A motorcycle passenger died of injuries sustained when the bike went off Route 17 in Broome County.

Authorities say the crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday near exit 82 in the Town of Sanford.

According to New York State Police, 21-year-old Angela Decker of Westtown was taken by ambulance to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. She died at the hospital.

Investigators say the operator of the motorcycle - 23-year-old Thomas Alsdorf of Washingtonville - was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. He was reported in critical condition.

The Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on Route 17 when it went off the highway and struck a guiderail. Decker and Alsdorf were thrown from the bike.
