Authorities say 29-year-old Mandy Gillespie was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

According to Johnson City police, a woman reported her purse had been stolen while she was shopping at the Save-A-Lot store at 200 Main Street.

The woman said she had left her purse in a cart. When she returned to the store, the manager said he had found the purse and another woman had claimed it belonged to her. That woman then rode off on a bicycle.

Investigators say Gillespie turned in the purse at the police station, claiming she found it on Main Street. Cash, a credit card and a driver's license were missing from the purse.

Gillespie was ordered to appear in Johnson City village court on July 5.
