New playground equipment is about to be installed at the West Endicott Park.

The Town of Union park is on Maple Street between North Page and Mills avenues.

Town planning director Paul Nelson says the playground equipment has been delivered. He says the parks department is scheduled to start work on the improvement project later this month.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Nelson said it should "only take a few days" for the equipment to be put into place.

A wood fiber material is to be installed to provide a safety cushion for children who are using the playground.

Money for the project is coming from the funds the town receives from the federal Community Development Block Grant program.
