Weis Market Fire Guilty Plea
A Johnson City man is to be sentenced May 23 after pleading guilty in the setting of a fire at the Weis supermarket on Day Hollow Road in West Corners in February while customers and staff were in the store.
Police described 22 year old Zachary Constable as a ‘disgruntled’ employee.
The fire started in a coat room and quickly extinguished by the sprinkler system caused an estimated $10,000 in damage and lost income. There were no injuries.
Authorities say Constable was working in the seafood department on the day of the fire.
He was a former volunteer firefighter in Albany County.
