Governor Tom Wolf is warning that Pennsylvania hospitals are at risk of being overrun with COVID-19 patients and might have to begin rationing medical care if the rate of spread does not slow.

In his weekly update, Wolf says additional pandemic mitigation measures are under consideration because the ones already in place have not worked.

Wolf did not say what his administration is considering, but the Democrat all but ruled out a return to the kinds of statewide restrictions he imposed last spring.

Pennsylvania now reports 426,444 suspected and confirmed cases and 11,373 deaths

In Northeast Pennsylvania over the past week, there have been 288 new cases of the coronavirus in Bradford County for a total of 2,147. There were 12 deaths over the week for a total of 44 lives lost.  In Susquehanna County there were 67 new cases for the week for a total of 688 and four additional deaths for a total of 36.  Wayne County’s death rate remained at 12 but the number of cases in the large, rural county in the Poconos jumped 173 for a total of 711.
