According to the Associated Press, if his win is confirmed, Katko will get a fourth term. Katko has tried to cultivate an independent brand to reflect the nature of a swing district that includes the city of Syracuse.

Votes are still being counted in some Broome County and Southern Tier contests almost two weeks after election day.

As of Friday evening, former U.S. Representative Claudia Tenney appeared poised to take her seat back from Democrat Anthony Brindisi.  The Republican was ahead by over 16,000 votes but several thousand ballots in the 22nd Congressional District are still being counted.

In one very close local race that has seen the lead change from the close of voting election night, Democrat Hollie Levine is ahead of former Broome County District Attorney, Republican Stephen Cornwell in the race for Family Court Judge by 534 votes.

With about 6,000 absentee and affidavit ballots yet to be tallied in Broome County, the local count should be wrapped up by the end of the day November 16.  It still may take a little time to finish the count in all the counties included in the 22nd Congressional District.
