A fast-growing hotel brand that's part of Hilton's portfolio will be making its debut in the Binghamton area soon.

A 79-room Spark by Hilton location in Vestal is expected to start operating in a few weeks.

Remodeling work has been underway for the hotel at 3401 Vestal Parkway East over the last few months.

General manager Martin Erne said construction has been going smoothly. He said the target date for opening the hotel is July 31. The Spark by Hilton website is now accepting reservations for stays starting August 5.

Visitors will be offered a continental breakfast. They also will be able to use the hotel's gym and swimming pool.

Spark by Hilton signs were installed at the site in April. The location is about one mile west of the Binghamton University campus.

RAJ Hospitality LLC of Shelton, Connecticut acquired the Vestal Parkway property for $3 million in 2023.

The place was a Comfort Suites hotel for several years and it was open as an independent operation under the name University Inn for a short time.

The hotel is located on the site of the once-popular Vestal Steakhouse and Seafood Grill. The restaurant closed in January 2003.

The Spark by Hilton brand was launched just over two years ago. More than 100 hotels now are operating under the name.
