The End is Near! Vestal’s Skate Estate Reveals Closing Date
The days truly are numbered for the iconic Skate Estate Family Fun Center in Vestal.
The recreational facility on Vestal Road opened its doors in March 1982. The owners of the site announced on Thursday that the place will go out of business next month. The final day of operation will be Sunday, March 8.

Marchuska Development acquired the property for $880,000 in July 2024. The place featured an indoor skating rink, along with a large water slide and a miniature golf course.
Many Skate Estate fans were disheartened when the new owners removed The Water Wiz and the miniature golf facility.
Last January, Justin Marchuska confirmed the property was under contract to Williams Auto Group. He said although a sale was in the works, it would be "business as usual" for the time.
The plan to sell Skate Estate and shut it down drew some opposition. Despite pleas to keep it open, the Vestal town board this month approved the needed permits for Williams to buy the property and set up its own operation.
Thursday's Skate Estate post announcing the official closing date:
This rink has been more than a business—it’s been a home. A place where generations learned to skate, made friends, fell in love, and found community. As we prepare to close our doors, we want to thank every skater, family, staff member, and supporter who kept these wheels turning. You made this place unforgettable. Every glide, every laugh, every moment mattered.
