Vestal Police have one big piece of advice for local motorists as Binghamton University students return to the campus off the Vestal Parkway this weekend and early next week: Patience.

The police have posted on Facebook that in anticipation of increased traffic through the Town, several traffic safety check points are planned this week.

Hundreds of students are expected, not only on the Vestal campus and surrounding communities that host student housing, but also around retail areas and restaurants.

Vestal Police say the goal of their checkpoints is to enforce vehicle and traffic laws like seat belt use, equipment violations and to deter impaired drivers.
