Vestal Man Charged For Stealing Construction Equipment
A Vestal man is accused in the theft of excavation equipment from sites in New Hampshire and Virginia.
The Broome County Sheriff's Department says it has arrested 26-year-old Mark Phillips Jr. and have charged him with Criminal Possession of Stolen property, a felony.
Officials say they received a tip of two stolen excavators located in the Town of Triangle. Upon investigation of the tip a third excavator was located. All three pieces of equipment, valued at over $60,000 a piece, have been seized.
Sheriff's have determined that two of the excavators were stolen from a business on October 2nd in Plainfield, New Hampshire. The third excavator was taken from a property in Salem, Virginia on September 27th.
Phillips was arraigned in Town of Chenango Court and sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.
