Updated Draft Broome County All-Hazards Mitigation Plan Up For Review
Broome County residents can weigh in on plans for dealing with everything from drought and extreme temperatures to floods and earthquakes.
A Hazard Mitigation Plan outlines ways for communities to reduce their vulnerability to hazards and helps them set up long term strategies to reduce disaster losses.
The local plan was headed by the Broome County Department of Planning and Economic development in collaboration with representatives from each of the municipalities and other relevant agencies and organizations.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services funded the development of the plan.
Officials say the update is the second revision to the original blueprint adopted in 2008.
