Underground Utilities Work at Mygatt and Prospect Expands to Close Street

The underground utility work last week at the intersection of Prospect and Mygatt Streets in Binghamton has expanded to include a partial street closure.

Prospect is closed between Mygatt and Glenwood Avenue through 5 a.m. October 16.

Crews were working on the underground systems including what City Hall described as work on a water main and large valve at the intersection a week ago but said there had been no need for a street closure.

Now, through traffic is being detoured around the site in the First Ward.  Local traffic is being permitted.

As the detour is currently described, it does not appear traffic would be able to access the on-ramp to State Route 17 West off Prospect Street.
