UPDATE: Police Release Injury Information For Downtown Binghamton Shooting
Binghamton police say two people were being treated for injuries after several gunshots were fired near Court and State streets downtown.
Investigators say officers were sent to the area following a report of shots being fired around 10:45 p.m. Sunday.
Police determined the gunfire had occurred in Commercial Alley, just north of Court Street.
Officers were advised by a hospital that a "male assault victim" showed up at the emergency department with facial lacerations. Another male arrived at the hospital a short time later with a gunshot wound to his back.
Both of the injured people were treated and were expected to be released. Their names have not been made public.
Detectives believe five or six gunshots were fired during a disturbance in the alley. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
